si vous-voulez mon bonheur
amenènes-moi voir le film d'horreur
pas besoin de salle climatisé
pour frissonner mème en été

La cinémathèque Française is having a fantastic retrospective of vampire films from now until September 8th. The selection of films is mighty impressive and includes films that I thought would never see the light of a projector again like Jess Franco's Vampyros Lesbos (Sept. 7 19h). Paul Schrader's The Comfort of Strangers staring Christopher Walkin stretches the vampire theme as does Joseph Losey's The Servant, the former being a film that still freaks me out when I think about it. I am a sucker for early 70s Euro trash movies so my pick list is slanted and includes: The Return of Count Yorga (July 24 19h) and The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires - Hammer Films meet the Shaw Brothers for some kung fu blood suckin'! (Aug. 3 16h30). In fact I can only find a few that I wouldn't recommend: The Addiction by Abel Ferrara - great idea but like watching paint peel and The Lost Boys schmaltzy Hollywood dulls the fangs but the Goths like it.
